It is calculated as (local price − international converted price) ÷ international converted price. Positive means local gold is more expensive; negative means cheaper.

Why does Vietnam gold (SJC) cost more than world gold?
The central bank controls gold imports and gold bar production through licenses and quotas, which limits supply, and SJC gold bars have long been the de facto standard bar. The production monopoly was abolished in October 2025 and replaced by a licensing system, but the size of the premium depends on how much new supply actually reaches the market.
What is a lượng? Is it different from a troy ounce?
